Requiring little or no maintenance, products from Marley Alutec’s Evolve rainwater and Evoke eaves solutions ranges were recently specified for the renovation of PA Housing’s The Fairway, to reduce the scheme’s operational costs long term. 

In line with PA Housing’s mission to provide safe, pleasant homes and neighbourhoods where people have pride in their surroundings, the renovation of the three-storey building in West Moseley included the replacement of the rainwater system, fascias and soffits, which had reached the end of their life. 

PA Housing teamed up with Building Surveyor Ian Manley from Churchill Hui, who recommended Marley Alutec’s products due to their performance, quality and longevity.

Ian said: “With budgets tight, it’s essential that social housing providers fully consider the whole life costs of the materials they specify.  This is particularly pertinent when it comes to rainwater systems and roofline products on buildings over two storeys, as they require scaffolding each time they need to be accessed – adding to the cost and the disruption to residents. We therefore wanted products that would require minimal maintenance over time.”

Marley Alutec’s Evolve Deepflow round guttering and Evoke fascias and soffits were chosen, as the aluminium systems have a life expectancy of up to 50 years or more. Highly corrosion resistant, they will never rust or need re-painting.  In addition, the Evoke range is also available in a choice of 12 PVDF paint options, which includes Nano surface technology able to resist the build-up of dust, grime and algae, reducing the need for regular maintenance further.

Roofline specialists RC Grant & Sons Ltd installed the Evoke and Evolve systems. “We’ve worked with Marley Alutec before and we have a great working relationship,” said Adam Farrell, Contracts Manager at RC Grant.

“The Marley Alutec team was on hand throughout the project providing us with technical support. We had six weeks to complete the work, and thanks to the quality of the products and their ease of installation we were able to meet this time constraint easily.”

Having specified the systems, Ian Manley was on site to inspect and sign off the completed installation. “Each aspect of the work was completed to our satisfaction, with no issues at all. The contractor was great, as were the products. The property looks fantastic and PA Housing is very happy with the completed refurbishment. We will definitely be working with Marley Alutec again in the future.”
