Compatibility
To avoid bi-metallic corrosion, ensure electrolytically incompatible materials do not come in direct contact with un-insulated plain aluminium surfaces. In particular ensure that the recommended compatible screws and fixings are used. Polyester powder coated surfaces will give limited protection, but should not be solely relied upon. Dissimilar materials
Aluminium gutter and downpipe is compatible with the majority of materials commonly used for roofing. Aluminium should have an insulation barrier between the two surfaces in the case of the following metals; zinc, galvanized steel or stainless steel. Aluminium should not be used with a copper roof.
Marine environment
Aluminium rainwater products can be installed in marine locations, however being in a more aggressive environment, as with all materials; life expectancy would be shorter than inland.
